Wake up call!!!

1. How do you spend your time: serving others or serving yourself?

2. Where is your primary focus: on helping others get ahead or on achieving things for yourself?

3. Are you happy? If not, consider your answers to #1 and #2 above. You may realize you are your own worst nightmare!!

Think about it!

When you're self-serving, you tend to lose touch with those around you. You see what you desire but are blind to the needs of others.

Also, when your primary focus is on yourself, you become the loser. You may have money but you have few true friends, if any. You may have a nice house but there's no one to share it with; to make it home.

While you are busy looking at yourself, and climbing that ladder to success, you are missing out on the beauty which surrounds you...the beauty of close relationships and of nature, because you can't see past the person in the mirror.

A thought for today!

Life has a way of getting our attention!

So often we zoom through each day, not taking the time to notice many of the people and things surrounding us.

What a terrible way to live! It's fine for a few days but, every day, what a waste!

Take time to walk around a flower garden, to walk along a beach, or even to play in the snow. Pick up the phone and call a friend in need of a loving word or listening ear.

You'll feel fresher and your outlook will be brighter, and you'll have something, or someone, else to be thankful for.

The new year has arrived and with it comes a lot of resolutions and plans for the year ahead.

Sadly to say, many of these resolutions will not come true. Within a few days or weeks, people will resort to their same old patterns and routines. They will grow weary in well-doing, so to speak.

Thank God Jesus is greater than us. He didn’t grow weary!!!

He kept His resolve to give His life for us by dying on Calvary’s painful, humiliating, despicable, dreadful, heart-wrenching cross.

Jesus lived and died so that He might show us how to live!

Though we have days when we’re tired, we should not grow weary in well-doing. Instead, let us focus on the rest Jesus provides for our souls each day.

Though we have situations arising, beyond our control, which have the ability to make us feel stressed, let us turn our hearts toward Jesus so we can find true, lasting peace.

During times of sorrow, let us remember the joy of our salvation.

During those days when people hurt us by doing, or saying things, against us- when the Devil tries to fill our hearts with anger and hatred- let our hearts be filled with God’s love instead.

Let us remember that Jesus died for one and all- even those who hurt us, and use us, and try their best to tear us down.

Furthermore, let us rejoice during these times of trials and tribulation! Count it a joy to be persecuted, because it will be something else you have in common with your Saviour!

Sound overwhelming?

Sound impossible?

On a good day, No, but the true test comes when you’re having a difficult day.

Your answer is different then.

Life doesn’t seem so easy and it doesn’t seem fair.

It seems too painful and you can’t find anything in which to be joyful.

You can’t feel excited about the things you used to enjoy.

You can’t seem to fill that emptiness that’s welling inside you.

You shed more tears in one day than you’d normally shed in a month.

You wish for simple pleasures you don’t have, like happiness and peace of mind, a chance for your troubled soul to find rest...but, friend, you can have it.

There is One who waits for you to call upon His name.

He longs to fill your heart with joy and peace. He longs to grant your soul perfect rest...which won’t leave despite your circumstances.

He’ll make your pain easier to bear.

He’ll help you carry your cross, just as He carried His.

He’ll allow you to cry on His shoulder, and when you’re done, He’ll dry your tears.

When you’re making decisions, He’ll whisper into your ear, guiding you so you will know the right paths to choose, and even when you mess up, He’ll still be there to pick you up, and dust you off. He’ll forgive you time and time again. He’ll forgive you each time you ask.

So, friends, as you walk through each day of this new year, remember Jesus wants to walk beside you. Remember His resolve to die for you and you will be able to make it through each day!
