Regardless of the subject a poet writes about - from fun and laughter to sorrow and pain - the impressions, thoughts and feelings resonate from the poet's soul. Furthermore, for a poet to communicate feelings accurately, a poem is generally the best way to convey those feelings. Words may be spoken and actions can be taken - but there's just something about writing a poem ...

I, myself, am a poet. In fact, I can't remember a time when writing poetry was not a part of my life. I write songs, stories and books but it seems I write poetry more often than I write anything else - though my brain is teeming with ideas just waiting to be explored and written.

There are various types of poetry and I don't limit myself to one particular style - though I must admit to enjoying poems which rhyme. However, even when words don't rhyme, if a poem has rhythm - flows smoothly as the words roll off my tongue - I enjoy it.

Furthermore, I don't focus on one particular subject; if an idea comes to mind and I would like to write about it, I do. As such, there will be a huge variety of poems on this site. I can't say, however, that I've personally experienced every situation about which I've written. I gain a measure of pleasure in placing myself in the shoes of another to see how I, the poet, may feel in a given set of circumstances. Granted, short of experiencing every situation life has to offer, I will never fully know how close I've come to feeling as another person does feel in reality - but it keeps my mind occupied and my soul engaged, as I continually try to put myself into the shoes of others.

I hope you enjoy your visit to Norma's Poetry and I hope you continue to stop by to read other poems as they are posted.

Remember: poetry truly is the whisper of the soul...
