Norma's Poetry
Poetry by Bernice Branford Lewis

My poetry tells you that God DOES love you...regardless of who you are and what you've done!!!
My poetry tells you that God DOES love you...regardless of who you are and what you've done!!!

Bernice contacted me a while ago, commenting on a poem I wrote called, The Secret Place. She was going to share it with her Sunday School class because it meant a lot to her.

Well, this marvelous lady, though in her 80s, still tutors people and takes every opportunity to teach others about God's boundless love and His loving mercy.

Tutoring people gives her an added reason to "get up in the morning." It gives her "something positive to do - something to focus on during her waking hours," though she does try to take a day during the week "to catch up on correspondence." Lately, a lot of that correspondence has been directed my way, I am proud to say.

I did make a comment, recently, that I would likely get her addicted to the Internet. She responded later by telling me how much she looked for and expected my e-mails. Does it sound like I may be right? She e-mailed again today....

Bernice Branford Lewis now resides in an area of my heart reserved for friends. Welcome aboard, Bernice. You're a special lady and I love having you in my life!

This is a poem Bernice wrote and she gave me permission to place it on my site. In time, I will add others for your reading pleasure, hoping they will speak to your hearts as they were meant to.

How Do I Know You?

You've stumbled,
You've fallen,
...............So have I.

You've wept,
You've laughed,
...............So have I.

You've lived,
You've loved,
...............So have I.

You've danced,
You've sung,
...............So have I.

Two hands,
Two feet,
...............So have I.

A heart beat,
A love complete,
...............So have I.

Lots of feeling,
Lots of hope,
...............So have I.

Lots of faith,
Lots of wishing,
...............So have I.

Time to think,
Time to pray,
...............So have I.

Games to play,
Words to say,
...............So have I.

So many memories,
So many regrets,
...............So have I.

Sundry yesterdays,
Myriad tomorrows,
...............So have I.

I know you because, I, too
have shared this phase of life with you.

One Day at a Time
by

One day at a time we can help one another to do the will of God.
Each hour, each minute is a gift from Him - on His earth, with His air, and His sod.

One day at a time we pray for each other that God will provide as we need.
When we look for His answer to every prayer we surely believe we’ll succeed.

One day at a time as we savor each minute to appreciate the time we’ve been given
to do God’s will and work in His world as He blesses the causes we’ve striven.

One day at a time has another opportunity to use each moment wisely
that we may accomplish and become perfected as we listen to God, advisedly.

One day at a time to prepare for dying for, in dying, we go to Christ.
It’s a graduation to rise above and celebrate eternal life.

One day at a time we feed on God’s Word as we read and study the Bible
containing God’s law and rules by which each of us is held liable.

One day at a time let us praise one another and daily appreciate
all of the blessings that God has given so that complaints we eliminate.

One day at a time is only enough to live as we praise Him each hour.
This very moment may be the last to have life within earth’s bower.

Awake each moment, thank God, for one day.
Rejoice and be glad you’re aware
That it’s God who gives or takes away
and that He is constantly there.
So use this time to constantly pray
and earnestly share a prayer.

You Are So Special
by
Bernice Branford Lewis

There are no two people alike
And this is why you are so special:
You are unique in your own way
And nothing, at all, is superficial.

Each palm, each hair, each print
Is very different from any other;
Each voice, each shape, each talent
Is quite varied from another.

So, what does this mean to you?
That you must do what you can,
For you have a task to do
In keeping with the Master's plan.

Lose yourself in your duties
And you will feel so free
To do as you are structured to do
And be what you want to be.

THERE IS NOBODY ELSE LIKE YOU;
Not one person under the sun
Can take your place in this universe,
So be sure that your work is done.
